Summer is on the way and we all started paying regular visits to the beach! Our sunscreen is a necessary accessory. But what do we really should be paying attention to and why its use is necessary?
1. Sunscreen protection is necessary
Even in a cloudy day the harmful sun rays can pass to our skin and do some serious damage. We must wear sunscreen when we are going out since UV light can cause permanent damage to our skin, even skin cancer.
2. We apply sunscreen 20 to 30 minutes before tanning
Sunscreen is really effective when we apply at least 20 minutes before we expose ourselves to the sun. We apply on our faces before applying make-up.
3. We use a high sun protection factor
Dermatologists suggest using high sunscreen protection e.g. SPF30, but waterproof sunscreens as well. Let’s just say that someone is gets 15 minutes to get sunburned, then a sunscreen with a protection index of 30 will delay burning for 15 minutes x 30= 450 minutes (7,5 hours). If we are tanning when it’s too hot outside, it is suggested to apply sunscreen every 2 hours!
4. Sunscreen with protection from UVA and UVB radiation.
Each one of us has heard even for once in our life that we should use sunscreen for both types of solar radiations. But what actually do they mean? UVA UVA (Α=Ageing) are the rays of photo-aging which deeply damage the skin and cause wrinkles. UVB ((Β=Burning) are the rays of tanning which cause sun burning.
5. Every skin type should use sunscreen
A lot of people believe that only people that have whiter skin color or get burned easier than the others should be more careful while exposing their selves to the sun. This is not accurate since skin abnormalities as well as skin cancer can occur in all types of skin.
Tip: We do not forget our hat and sunglasses and we are ready to go to the beach!
Itís hard to find experienced people about this subject, however, you sound like you know what youíre talking about! Thanks
